John Obi Mikel Faces a Suspension

John Obi Mikel, the midfielder that Chelsea had brought onto the field with the hopes of winning the matches, and eventually the hearts too, has lost many hearts. He has been fined a penalty of 60,000 pounds and blocked from playing the next three matches where he would have, otherwise, represented his team. You ask us the blame? We tell you.

He has been fined for using abusive and threatening language while on the ground, as an aggressive response to the sudden defeat that his team had to face at the hands of Manchester United in October.

On Thursday, the Football Association stated that after a long span of considering all the factors, its Independent Regulatory Commission had found that Mikel was rightfully the convict for having used the wrong defaming language against the referee Mark Clattenberg in his official changing room.

The defeat involved in this one is quite a controversial one, especially because of the allegations that have come tagged along with it. The accusation of using “inappropriate language” had gone afloat immediately after the defeat. One of the two suspects was Mikel, and his fault has been established too.

The Football Association had begun the investigations soon after, and the involved referee Mark Clattenberg had been debarred from playing his role of a referee until they were assured that he did not have anything to answer to. Quite needless to say, since the seriousness of the matter is of quite a high degree, there were no delays in establishing the charges.

It is said that the ban that the Association has imposed on Mikel could have been even larger had he not come up with his own justification stating that he had been a victim of racial abuse too. It is only for that accusation that the ban is valid only for the next three matches and not more.

The official statement that the Football Association launched officially regarding this case, states, “The breach of FA Rule E3 was in relation to an incident which occurred in the match official’s changing room at the end of Chelsea’s fixture against Manchester United on 28 October 2012.” Thus, there stands no scope for a doubt that had the player not justified his own part, his career could have taken any serious turn, not to be repaired until the next few years.

Also, there is Ramires, another link interwoven into the entire case, whose first language is not English. And it can, very possibly, be a little misinterpretation or a miscommunication on his part when he said he heard Mark Clattenberg saying “shut up, you monkey” to the suspect John Obi Mikel.

Whatever the case, Mark Clattenberg has resumed his duties and Chelsea has officially expressed its regret over keeping him from his duties until his part was a little clear.
